Heritage
Dedication and commitment, combined with pioneering technology, is the reason Valor always been steps ahead of the competition. Dating as far back as 1902, Valor developed the first ever portable oil heater and production even extended to bicycles and fire extinguishers. Following expansion to a purpose built factory in Erdington, Birmingham and after playing a large part in the war effort, Valor turned its attention to gas fires in the 1960’s. Since developing the first ever radiant gas fire in 1967,their advances in gas fire technology are legendary. Not only did they go on to revolutionise the market with the first ever balanced flue fire in 1973, they followed with the first ever living flame gas fire - the Valorflame – in 1978. By 1982, they had also pioneered the Valor ‘Homeflame’ - the best-selling gas fire in the UK with 70% efficiency – but their innovative advances didn’t stop there. Having launched the first remote control gas fire in 1989, Valor also continued to expand their gas fire portfolio with the new high efficiency ‘Homeflame’ range. But it didn't just stop at gas. From making a foray into electric fires in 1989, they went on to pioneer the ‘Dimension’ range of electric fires with patented Hologram effect.

As a leader in the production of quality heating products, Valor is committed to a proactive policy on environmental issues. To meet this commitment, the Company has established an Environmental Management System (EMS). Major site activities involve the design and manufacture of domestic heating units, utilising a variety of machinery and treatment techniques. These activities give rise to a number of environmental aspects, including emissions to atmosphere, discharge to sewer and generation of various wastes. By a thorough examination of our activities and their impact on the environment, the Company will endeavour to prevent and minimise pollution whenever and wherever practicable. As a result our objectives and targets will be established and updated as part of continual environmental improvement and audits will be undertaken periodically. An environmental team has been established to monitor and review our activities, and ensure continued compliance with regulatory requirements.
